Margaret Eileen Turns 3

Margaret turns three years-old on Monday, November 8th so yesterday was her birthday celebration. Ben and I forgot our camera so for now I don't have any pictures, I am hoping to get a hold of some that Elissa's dad took. It is amazing how much difference a year makes when we are talking about the difference between 2 and 3. It is even stranger to think about the lack of difference a year makes between 29 and 30 :). I think Margaret had a good party, she definitely had tons of fun. Elissa's brother Cabe had a new puppy and Margaret enjoyed leading it around outside. She also greatly enjoyed opening presents and generally just being the center of attention. She even blew out her candle with no problem (this was a scary thing when she was two)!

Last year I went out to Portland to visit Clay and Elissa, meet William James, and see Margaret on her 2nd birthday. Last year she was talking but not with very many words, she was not very good at opening presents and lost interest. This year, Margaret talks constantly, was a pro with the wrapping paper, and was ready to open the next present before she was even sure what she had gotten. Here are some pictures from her second birthday.

Before dinner Clay gave a toast to Margaret. Everything he said was wonderful but he also pointed out that they are thankful for her curious spirit. I loved that he noted that and it brings a smile to my face to think about her saying "momma, what's that?" It is a common phrase from this young, intelligent, curious girl! Happy Birthday Margaret!!!!!!
