Lakin' Girl

Kathryn is definitely my daughter.....she loves the lake! Yesterday we took her down to Pomme for her second trip. This was the first time she got in the water. She loved the boat rides and swimming as well. She woke up for a second when she got in and one other time when she spit out her nuc but other than that she greatly enjoyed sleeping while floating!



And just because it is so cute I had to post these pictures of swimming at Grandma's. Well Kathryn didn't actually swim but she did enjoy her cousins and being outside.

Vacation 2011

Since this is the second year in a row, I think it can now be called a tradition to go "up north" for vacation. On Thursday, June 30th we loaded up the Escape with our luggage, a bassinet, a dog, and a car seat. We were wondering why we didn't get another vehicle! I was really nervous about traveling so far with a new baby but she did so so well. On the way to the Upper Peninsula we decided to go through Olivet so that Ben's grandmother (Grace) could meet Kathryn. Grace turned 100 today so it was very special that she got to meet her great-grandaughter.

We only spent one evening in Olivet and then headed to the UP. We got to spend a week at the cabin on Cable Lake. Ben and I enjoyed the relaxation (and fishing), Ben got to spend his 31st birthday with his family, Kathryn enjoyed spending the time with grandma and grandpa, and Molly enjoyed playing in the lake and playing with her buddy smokey.

Some highlights from the trip:

• Kaydi met her great-grandma on Ben's side of the family
  
• We saw a moose, it was huge.
• I saw a young eagle that had not left its nest yet
• Saw a dead porcupine. I have been wanting to see one of these ever since my first trip
• Got to see two loons and their two young babies
• The weather was perfect (80's during the day and low 60's at night)
• I caught a blue gill that qualified for master angler (10 inches long!)
  
• Kaydi has now been to 5 states

It was a wonderful week!
