The Nursery

We are now well into April and the weather is beautiful, flowers are blooming, and the sun is shining. We are also another couple of weeks closer to meeting our baby.

This week was eventful for baby developments. Today we went to our "Prepared Childbirth Class". It made for a long days indoors when the weather was so nice but it was good to go and at the very least tour the delivery and postpartum rooms. Next, and most exciting to me is that the nursery is officially finished. I still need to wash all of the clothes and organize it but the walls are painted, border is up, and all furniture is put together and put in place. I owe a HUGE thank you to my mom and Ben for all of the labor and to Judd and Cindy for most of the furniture! The last thing that happened this week is that mom took me shopping for a cute boy and girl outfit for Jackryn to wear home from the hospital There were so many more girl clothes. We had lots of trouble picking out a dress but when it came to little boy stuff we felt like we only had a couple of options. I have decided that if we have a little girl I will spend way more on clothes but it will be a lot more fun dressing her.

Next week I have another ultrasound to see how big the baby is. I am excited about seeing the baby again but don't want the ultrasound to lead to the doctor recommending induction. Pray for us!

Our Big Announcement....

Pretty sure that everyone who reads this blog already knows anyway but since this blog is also serving the purpose of a journal to document our lives, it is time for a post. I am 15 weeks pregnant and due on May 12th!!

We found out right before we took our trip to Kansas City over labor day weekend. After that we told our parents, waited a few weeks, then began telling some of our friends. It has been very exciting telling our family and friends as well as sharing in the process of dreaming/imagining what our life will be like in just a few more months. The first trimester was not very fun (I was sick a lot and tired all the time) but I do know that it could have been much worse and that it will all be worth it in the end. I am also very excited that our baby will be so close in age to Clay and Elissa's third one (due around Valentine's Day). Additionally, my cousin is due about a month after me.

Ben's parents came down and brought us Ben's old crib, a rocking horse that was handmade for Ben, and a little tricycle. Kathleen is letting us borrow her bassinet and swing. We are so thankful for all the help!

We have our early ultrasound picture and our second one is sometime around the end of December/beginning of January. We are still trying to make a finalized decision but I am pretty sure we are going to wait until the birth to find out the gender....just another added surprise.

There is so much to do before the baby comes. Right now our nursery is a big storage room for junk. Of course, I am on the internet playing instead of cleaning it out....some things never change :)
